Tomorrow is September 11. My goodness how it just seems to quickly creep up on us. While I’m sure there will be many memorials in both print and on the television to all of those who lost their lives 6 years ago, I would like to take the time to think about the other victims of the terrorist attacks in NYC, the first responders and volunteer workers who worked at Ground Zero around the clock for months following the attacks in the effort to find survivors, remains and clean up the area. Many of those people have given their lives, or have become too sick to work at the jobs they loved. We should not forget the sacrifices that these individuals made, yet we have. Kindness and selflessness are being rewarded with silence and inactivity. How very shameful.
